Those immortal words by Perry Como invoke the true meaning of the holidays: time spent with family and friends, in a warm and safe environment, reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the next. Home for dozens of families in our community during the holidays are Share’s family shelters. The majority of funding for our shelters comes through private and government grants—and that money ran out this year on September 1.
33,000 meals are served each year at our family shelters. Pots, pans, cookie sheets, utensils & more need regular replacement to serve healthy food to our residents.
Men & women entering shelter often have
few personal belongings. The ‘Good Start’ kit provides toiletry items (toothbrush, comb, soap, deodorant, etc.), underwear, socks & more.
Provide a parent with two children a safe & warm place to live and sleep, as well as meals, for two nights.
To maintain safe & clean shelters for our residents, shelters require on-going and preventative maintenance. Large appliances (washers/dryers, etc.) & furnishings (couches, beds, etc.) require routine repair and/or replacement.
